Working with Jennifer has been one of the most impactful decisions I’ve made as a dietitian and private practice owner. Her program provided the structure, strategy, and confidence to grow in a way that feels aligned and sustainable, and she truly understands the nuances of building a business as an RD. What sets this experience apart is the combination of her individualized support and the community of driven, inspiring dietitians. I’ve valued it so much that I’ve continued beyond the initial 6-month program and chose to keep investing.

I love working with Jennifer. There have been so many times I've felt like giving up, but she keeps me motivated and on track. Her expert guidance has helped me build my private practice (a small, but growing number of clients!). The tools and trainings in business school are invaluable and help save a lot of time and frustration.
Heather Mason, MS, RD, CDCES
Being part of Business School has been an amazing experience! Jennifer is so dedicated to helping RDs thrive in business, and her passion shows every time we meet. I always feel incredibly supported and I leave every meeting, webinar, and supervision with tangible ways to improve my business.

Business School is the support for my private practice that I didn’t know I needed. I owned a group practice for 10 years prior to joining and initially thought I just needed help navigating upcoming market changes...but I got that and so much more.
Through Jennifer’s coaching and courses, I started looking at my business in a completely different way. I’ve stepped more fully into my role as a leader and practice owner...which feels really good.
I now have a streamlined approach to marketing, I’m more confident leading my team, and I have a much clearer understanding of how to analyze how my business is performing.
Business School delivers incredible value for the investment, and for me, it was a no-brainer to stay beyond graduation!

I joined Business School because I wanted to grow my business skills and be in a community with others doing the same thing. When I started Business School in March 2023, I was only seeing a few clients a week. I was feeling hopeful but knew I needed more resources to help me find the confidence to grow a business.
I was so excited (and a tad overwhelmed!) to get familiar with the massive library of information in Business School. I spent time learning and gaining insight into the steps needed for me at my stage of business in order to grow.
Once I had my bearings, I needed the group to ask questions and process my next steps. I learned so much from Jennifer, and even more from everyone else! You don't know the questions you have until someone else asks them. The value of the Business School community is so powerful.
I'm graduating from Business School with an A+! My private practice has grown and I have the confidence and skills to navigate the ups and downs as an entrepreneur. I'm not afraid to take up space as a business owner!

I have loved working with Jennifer McGurk as a business coach.
It was so helpful to have another pair of eyes on my business, helping me to make business strategy decisions within my boundaries.
Jennifer's coaching empowered me to set realistic goals, own my role as a CEO for my overall business and brand, and lead my group practice. Jennifer taught me to look at the data just as much as I trust my own intuition when making decisions.
I now feel so much more confident in my ability to understand my business finances to help make tough decisions. I have a better understanding of what I want and need as a business owner. One of the biggest lessons I've learned is permission to show up imperfectly and not have it all "figured out".
My business has evolved and will continue to pivot based on my boundaries, the market, and what I decide to do with my career.
Emily Murray RD, LDN, CEDS | Registered Dietitian
Business School has helped me smoothly transition into private practice after eight years of a robust clinical career. I am now specializing in MNT for diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and chronic kidney disease from an Intuitive Eating/HAES lens.
PPP has not only given me the information necessary to set up all of the fundamentals required for a new nutrition business, but has provided me with so many tools to help with my mindset and goals as a brand new business owner and private practice dietitian.
One of the most crucial aspects of Business School for me has been the regular meetings and support from everyone at PPP as well as the other practitioners in the group. I would absolutely recommend PPP as a vital resource for any practitioner looking to jump into private practice!
Chelsea Davidson, RD, LD, CNSC, Davidson Nutrition
I joined EXPAND wanting to develop my CEO role at Erica Leon Nutrition LLC. I've had a private practice for many years, but I wasn't sure how or when to take the next step(s) forward!
Before EXPAND, I felt anxious about growing my business without a sustainable foundation. Joining EXPAND and working with Jennifer McGurk was my best decision ever.
EXPAND was helpful for many reasons, including the program's organization, group discussions, individual support, and a deep dive into finances. We looked at our CEO role, mindset, investing in our team (i.e., how to hire!), insurance reimbursement, systems, finances, and more. We looked at every aspect of how we run our business and then evaluated the most pressing issues to address first.
For me, talking about money was the most challenging but helpful process. I learned how to use a new system for my business (QuickBooks instead of an old Excel spreadsheet), which showed me how profitable my business is and what I need to do to increase my profit.
Jennifer did such a great job coaching my group. She was able to use our issues (such as CEO mindset, money worry, and hiring mistakes) as lessons for the entire group. I learned so much and bonded with other participants.
What I learned the most, however, is that to grow a business, you need to be willing to invest in it. I have invested in other business programs and coaches, but Jennifer McGurk is the real deal. EXPAND was a transformative experience, and it was WELL WORTH THE INVESTMENT!
I got so much value out of this program without burning out. I now feel less overwhelmed and more confident than when I first started.
Thank you, Jennifer!

I joined EXPAND feeling overwhelmed as a private practice owner with a full caseload.
I was burnt out because I was seeing so many clients without any systems in place. I signed up for EXPAND because I want to continue to grow my practice into a group private practice and needed support with making changes to make this sustainable.
I knew if I just hired someone to see more clients, I would add more work to my already-full plate.
EXPAND taught me the importance of creating boundaries within my values in order to make business strategy decisions.
While I was in the program, I created a CRM system for potential clients, learned how to analyze finances, decided to switch to a new EMR, asked for a fee increase for insurance contracts, set new office policies and an updated cancellation policy, and evolved my boundaries for both life and business.
My CEO job description looks different now than at the beginning of the program.
EXPAND helped me grow my business and leadership as the CEO of my practice.

Business School was exactly what I needed in order to launch my private practice! It was intentionally created to provide the perfect balance of teaching, accountability, and community to help me understand what it takes to start and run a values-driven business. I didn't realize how important it was to find business coaching without a side of "hustle culture" (similar to diet culture) and Jennifer and her team at Pursuing Private Practice provide support and direction that aligns with my values as a weight-inclusive, anti-diet dietitian. I have already recommended this program to a bunch of people, and if you are a dietitian, therapist, or anyone who is looking to start a business I highly recommend Business School!

Working with Jennifer and Pursuing Private Practice has been pivotal to the growth of my business. Since working with Jennifer, I've grown my caseload, launched an online course, hired an associate dietitian, navigated maternity leave and my return to work as a new mom, as well as numerous seasons of growing, scaling and coasting as a business owner. Jennifer's expertise, compassion, support and guidance have given me the confidence to go for my business dreams while also prioritizing my boundaries. She is genuine, passionate and caring and is an invaluable asset to anyone who owns a private practice!

I love EVERYTHING about Business School!! Meeting so many other anti-diet professionals, being in a group where so many others are experiencing the same things in their businesses, learning from others, having so many resources, the list goes on and on! But really - the Business School community is absolutely amazing!

All the tools you need for starting or expanding your private practice have been thoughtfully created, and allow you to tailor your experience while going at your own pace. But the best part is what shines through all of it, and that is Jennifer's generosity and enthusiastic spirit. Jennifer is a champion of her fellow RDs, and looks forward to seeing you succeed in the ways that matter most to you."

When starting a business, there's a ton of information to sift through. As a healthcare professional, some of that information doesn't really make sense, and having a resource that understands where you are and where you want to go is vital.

I wanted to say thank you and tell you how grateful I am that I found Pursuing Private Practice. While starting my own practice was something that I had thought about doing, I am not sure I would have ever done it without stumbling upon you and your team and your courses. They gave me the nudge I needed, made me feel immensely supported, and provided so many invaluable resources.
You have helped me to learn so much about business and I have been able to use all of that information to build a strong foundation for my practice. From boundaries to systems to my ideal client - I feel like I have so much information to help me continue to grow.
Your Facebook group has also been invaluable. It has been a place to learn, find support and community and so many wonderful resources in all the other professionals.
Thank you for everything you have provided - for talking about the ups and downs, the authenticity, everything!! You have truly changed my trajectory and I am excited to see where things go!

Pursuing Private Practice was the jumpstart I needed for my business.
I was floundering before, trying to figure out how to run my business, and now I have some real direction and actionable goals I can achieve. I love the community and how much support I feel in our group calls. Jennifer is the best cheerleader and mentor! She is so enthusiastic about what she does and it inspires me.
I highly recommend Jennifer and her program to anyone with a private practice!

Business School is one of the best business decisions I have made since opening my private practice.
Joining this amazing, friendly, helpful community of professionals has made me feel more connected, confident, and knowledgeable. When I am faced with a difficult business decision or an unusual client situation, everyone in the group has my back. The advice I have received from the courses, the group calls, and directly from Jennifer herself has elevated my practice from 5 clients a month to over 40! I admit I was at first hesitant to join due to the monthly fee, but I can say with confidence that the return on investment has made the cost absolutely worth it.

Aside from the very helpful business lessons, I absolutely love the weekly group calls. The consistency of face-to-face time with the group is what I look forward to most and it's so encouraging and supportive. It is a great way to network with other professionals and feel a sense of community when you work from home!

Business School has provided me with invaluable support to grow my business.
The modules give you all the information you need to set up the systems in your business, build a brand, and start marketing. The group coaching calls and Facebook group have helped me to stay connected, get my questions answered, and build a community of like-minded entrepreneurs who I can get feedback from as we all grow our businesses together. Jennifer's enthusiasm and expertise also helped with my confidence because I feel like I have everything I need to tackle all of the hard things that come up in growing a business.

Pursuing Private Practice has been pivotal in helping me understand the foundations of a solid business platform.
Even though I have a thriving private practice, I have wanted to enhance my business skills for a long time now. We are not trained in business development and management, and this program has been fundamental in helping me in those areas.
The members-only Facebook group as well as the business meetings and workshops have been extremely helpful and an invaluable asset.
I highly recommend Pursuing Private Practice. It not only will help you from a business standpoint, but it will help you personally and professionally in ways you cannot even imagine until you are a part of the wonderful community.

Joining Business School has been one of the best decisions and investments I have made as far as growing my business.
I've paid for other programs that were so poorly organized or so boring that I never completed them. What really sets Pursuing Private Practice apart is that there are weekly group calls that keep you engaged in the program and offer so much support in addition to the curriculum.
I've hired my first employee (a dietitian) and hired an intern since joining Pursuing Private Practice a few months ago. The information on how to scale and the hiring tools were so helpful and saved me a lot of time and headaches! If you are on the fence, I would say go for it!"

Business School is an invaluable resource for professionals who want to enter into private practice or grow their business.
Jennifer is very communicative and supportive in the Facebook group and is willing to help out to the best of her ability! She makes it seem like she is always available for us.
I know for a fact that setting up my business wouldn't have gone as smoothly as it did if it wasn't for Jennifer and Business School!
I wholeheartedly recommend this resource to all private practice owners!

I’m so glad that I invested in this program when I did.
I’m reflecting back to where I was when we had our first phone call and I was so hurt, lost, and angry. I had googled the symptoms of burnout just because I was curious and I checked every box. It’s frustrating thinking about how much I love working with people in repairing their relationship with food and their bodies. That was my full-time job, but it wasn’t meeting that need. It definitely wasn’t my interaction with the patients and their families that led to that either – it was stemming from the business decisions that were being made and how powerless I felt in my own role.
Pursuing Private Practice helped me see that it’s possible to do what I love, charge what I’m worth, and practice in line with MY ideals.

The Pursuing Private Practice community has been everything I needed and more!
I was very nervous to make this investment in myself, but Jennifer and the entire community has made me feel extremely welcome. Yes, it is a big group of aspiring entrepreneurs, which could be overwhelming, but in fact, it is just a big group of people who have been/are in the same position as you! So many resourceful people to reach out to, ask questions to, and learn from.
The content from each lesson of the course provides me with material to help me feel confident when making decisions and gives me a path to follow to continue moving forward. Overall, this course has been a great investment so far. I am learning and growing as a dietitian and business professional with each lesson, post in the Facebook group, group call, and question to Jennifer. I could not recommend it more!

I can say with 100% confidence I would not be where I am today without Pursuing Private Practice.
I feel so supported and confident in this new role as a business owner and truly have PPP to thank for that. I love that you can work through the lessons at your own pace and then go to the FB group to ask questions. Having your own business can be lonely and it is just so nice to know I have this huge support system within the group.
If you are thinking of joining - do it! You will not be disappointed.

If what you need and want is someone to believe in you as well as show you how it’s done, I would definitely recommend Pursuing Private Practice.
Jennifer will feel like a good friend right away, and she is the kind of friend we all want to have - she creates a safe space and encourages us to share our feelings, she is really good at encouraging you and making you believe in yourself, she pushes you to prioritize self-care, and she is a wealth of knowledge (and if she doesn’t know the answer, she will do her best to find it for you!). Jennifer has been so flexible with me, as well as so warm and kind.
She also is doing her very best to give us a course that serves us well - she surveys us every month on what we would like to see in the course. If you don’t get the answer you need in the course content - no worries! There is an AMAZING Facebook group where you can go to get all of your individual questions answered, by Jennifer and others. It’s been really beautiful to see people post vulnerable things in the Facebook group, and see the community responding so supportively.
I love being a part of such an inclusive and encouraging group, surrounded by other awesome professionals.

This is the kind of resource you'll wish you had from day one as a business owner in private practice.
Jennifer fills all the gaps and alleviates the isolation you feel as a dietitian entrepreneur—providing supervision, co-working, business coaching, specific tips and practical steps. And the whole time you know she is really on YOUR team, wanting nothing more than for you to feel supported, connected, and well-equipped to build your business in a way that works for you!
One of my favorite aspects of Business School has actually been the co-working hours, seeing others in action and sharing goals, while we hunker down together—virtually!—and feel like we're in the same room!
Heather Caplan, RD
Host of RD Real Talk
I invested in Business School and Pursuing Private Practice when I realized I was very alone in my effort to build a private practice.
Not only was I alone, but my business hadn't progressed much in the last 9 months since opening. Now it's been another 9 months since joining Jennifer's group and I am MILES ahead of where I was.
Business School teaches and models how and why to have a team surrounding you constantly. I hired my first contractor because of this program and I'm looking forward to hiring my first employee soon! Working with a team feels great and I see a path forward to grow my business without running myself into the ground.
I've also made peer connections that continue to be a source of support, collaboration and accountability. Jennifer always says that the act of investing in your business is what allows it to grow and she is spot on. I'm looking forward to building on what I've learned and will be recommending Business School to anyone who needs it!

Don't start your private practice without doing this program first - you won't regret it!
I had already started my private practice, doing video consulting only, and felt ready to move into in-person consulting in an office, and I didn't really have the confidence to know where to start.
I began the program and immediately wished I had done it before I started my practice - it would have made everything much easier and less stressful!
This program is a must if you are even considering private practice because Jennifer walks you through essentials like understanding why you want to do private practice and how you want to practice (aka figuring out your niche).
She also diffuses intimidating subjects like writing a business plan, setting up your office, taking payments, and deciding on how you'll do your record-keeping, aspects I hadn't given nearly enough thought before the course (my powers of avoidance are stellar).
Her checklists are so helpful for getting organized, something I can sometimes struggle with when the stakes feel high. Most importantly, she provided guidance on figuring out how to set my rates, something I was really floundering with!

I have seen so much progress and jumped many hurdles with Pursuing Private Practice.
Jennifer has many years of knowledge and experience that show through her supervision, guidance, and business coaching. It’s been very helpful to gain support from her and the other professionals in the group.
The bonus lessons have helped me navigate various business items like taxes, billing insurance, to caring for clients. The co-working meetings help hold me accountable to complete tasks.
I feel more comfortable knowing I am not alone in the feelings that arise in owning a business that usually can alternate like excitement, fear, and overwhelm.
My latest victory is ending my part-time job to pursue my private practice 100%! I am so grateful for the support Jennifer and the Pursuing Private Practice team have provided in building up my business.
